With annual expenditures in excess of $500 billion the construction industry is the largest single industry in the U.S. The construction industry is characterized by rapid growth and continuous technological change. The key professional in this vast enterprise is the "constructor," a term given to the trained professional having the capacity to manage a project through its entirety, addressing financial and technical needs of the owner and contractor.

The Construction Management program is based on a nationally recognized academic standard that prepares individuals for the responsibilities of the professional Constructor. Typical job titles of graduates include, but are not limited to, project manager, project engineer, estimator, and expediter. Many graduates work in positions with companies that provide materials and services to the construction industry such as insurance, materials supply, inspection and other areas of construction. When one considers that construction and related activities encompass 20 percent of the gross national product (GNP), it is not hard to understand that opportunities for graduates of the Construction Management program are widespread.
